Rainbow rising for Dash For Cash

Dash For Cash is poised for a winning weekend despite the wet and windy weather prevailing on the east and west coasts.

Dash For Cash colt Chase the Rainbow is the opening favourite for the G2 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Friday evening.  And on Sunday, his fellow three year-olds Fast Bucks and Eagle Command will run in the Listed UCI Stakes (1800m) at Flemington.

The Swettenham Stud sire warmed up on Wednesday with promising newcomer Dash For Home in the Westspeed 3yo Hcp (1200m) at Belmont Park.

Dash For Home did just that when he charged down the middle of the track to defeat Divine Hero and Hartley’s Hangover on debut in Perth.

Dash For Home (3g Dash For Cash – Arabian Lass by Al Mufti) has a bright future ahead according to trainer Colin Webster.  “There’s plenty of improvement left in him,” Webster claimed.  “He’s a lovely, laid-back horse and will mature into a strong miler.

“He’s still green and Troy (Turner) had to change hands with the whip in the straight.  It’s only early days but we’re very happy with his progress.”

Dash For Home is from South African G1 winning mare Arabian Lass and her Perth winner was sold for $31,000 at the 2010 Yarradale Stud yearling sale.

Yarradale owner Ron Sayers retained a share with a syndicate that includes Paz and Michelle Princi, Joe Sherington, Trevor Holgate, Wayne Brooks, Brian Laurence and Bob Page.

Arabian Lass has a 2yo filly by Swettenham sire Soldier’s Tale and she was covered by Yarradale shuttler War Trace earlier this month.

Hoofnote:  Webster prepares Background for the same connections as Dash For Home and he was also sourced at the 2010 Yarradale yearling sale.

Background (Heritage) was placed twice in his first three starts at Belmont but was then beaten as a short-priced favourite at Northam last Sunday.

“We discovered he had a virus which explained the poor run,” Webster on Thursday.  “The boys are more than happy with both horses and they will be back at the Yarradale sale next year for sure.”
