Rata Tat Tat rallies in TVB Hcp

Rata Tat Tat overcame a wide alley to land the inaugural Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria Hcp (1200m) during Warrnambool week.

Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBV) came on board as a new sponsor at this year’s TAB Warrnambool May Carnival and the first winner lived right up to the meeting’s “go hard or go home” mind-set on Thursday.

Rata Tat Tat had to do it the hard way for in-form trainer Symon Wilde who rates him the most exciting galloper in the stable.  “He ran well first-up at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day and then just got run down in a $100,000 VOBIS Gold race at Cranbourne last month.

“There’s a lot of upside with this horse.  He’s the real deal and is still a way off from being fully furnished.”

Jockey Steven Arnold is also looking forward to the gelding’s return as a three year-old.  “He has plenty of ability and the right attitude.  He waited for them at Cranbourne but he quickened today and was very strong through the line.”

Rata Tat Tat races for a syndicate managed by Dudley Ludeman after making $25,000 at last year’s Inglis VOBIS Gold Sale.  “We kept him until one day Dudley came down to the stable,” Wilde recalled.  “He took one look and said ‘I will take him’.”

Blue Gum Farm had sold him as agent for Melbourne breeder Rupert Legh who is enjoying an unforgettable ride with champion sprinter Chautauqua.

Rata Tat Tat is by former Swettenham Stud sire Host (Chi) and is a younger brother to recent Singapore Group 3 winner Conflight.  Their dam Frolicking Miss (Danzero) has since foaled a filly and a colt by Blue Gum stallion Glass Harmonium (Ire) and Legh bred her back to him for a third time last year.
