Realing the real deal at Doomben

Pinhook Bloodstock (FBAA) weighed in with a winning bid for a Real Saga yearling at last year’s Magic Millions QTIS Sale.

Subsequently named Realing, he looked the real deal with a potent kick to claim the Hamilton Hotel Maiden Plate (1350m) at Doomben on Wednesday.  Punters rallied to support the Matthew Dunn-trained galloper but he didn’t look an odds-on favourite when spotting the leaders around 8 lengths at the half-mile.

“That was a nice effort to come from where he was early on,” Dunn declared.  “He’s a horse with a future, maybe not this prep, but there’s plenty of upside.”

Realing (3g Real Saga – Ever After by Volksraad) was purchased by Pinhook Bloodstock’s Dave Mee in association with owner Dave Giesemann for $46,000 at the Gold Coast.  He’s a younger half-brother to minor winners by Dehere and Show a Heart.

Unraced at two, he put the writing on the wall with a debut third at Eagle Farm on November 1.

Realing nailed long-time leader Eastern Paradise second-up at Doomben.  The runner-up was purchased as a foal by Randwick Bloodstock Agency (FBAA) at the 2014 Inglis Weanling Sale.

Meanwhile, Pinhook Bloodstock buy Bottarga is heading for a hat-trick after making it two-from-two at Toowoomba on November 18.  A son of Falvelon, he was knocked down for $20,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale and that was good buying for a half-brother to several city winners.

Their dam Caterina (Danehill) won in Sydney and Brisbane and she is a half-sister to True Jewels (G1 Blue Diamond Stakes).
