Refuse To Bend moves to Whitsbury Manor

Refuse To Bend has been transferred from Darley’s Kildangan Stud roster in Ireland to stand at Whitsbury Manor Stud in Hampshire for the 2010 season.

Refuse To Bend (Sadler’s Wells) was a G1 winner of the Irish National Stakes at two and the English 2000 Guineas, Queen Anne Stakes and Coral Eclipse as a three year-old.

There have been four stakes winners from his first two northern crops including the G3 winners Grace O’Malley (Noblesse Stakes) and Neon Light (Preis der Winterkonigin).

Refuse To Bend joins Compton Place, Sakhee’s Secret, Avonbridge and Cadeaux Genereux at Whitsbury Manor.  His fee has been reduced from 12,000 euros to 5,000 euros.

Refuse To Bend shuttled to Darley Australia in 2005, ’06 and ’08.  The only Australian winner from his first southern crop in 2008-09 was Imperial Lines who won a Strathalbyn maiden in February although Cramps did add a Beaudesert maiden on the opening day of the current season.  The other Refuse To Bend winners were Alamid (Phillipines), Khaki Halls & Ariddaun (South Korea) and Ocean of Time (South Africa).

Refuse To Bend’s penultimate southern crop started with a welcome winner when Ghostnthedarkness scored a one length victory in the $75,000 Fitton Insurance Hopeful Plate (1000m) at Toowoomba in September.

In a sign of things to come, Darley announced Refuse To Bend would not shuttle when announcing its Australian line-up for 2009.
