Rich Hill Stud sires Sir Percy (GB) and Pentire (GB) boosted the value of their Karaka bound yearlings with winning results in England and New Zealand this week.
English Derby winner Sir Percy took his tally of individual winners from his first northern crop to 11 when Emmuska was successful at Lingfield on Tuesday.
Emmuska (2f Sir Percy – Tintac by Intikhab) increased her strike-rate to three wins and a placing from six starts for leading trainer Richard Hannon. She is from the family of G1 Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Wootton Bassett.
Sir Percy will make his debut at Karaka with four colts and two fillies in the Premier Sale. He will also have a further 14 Select Sale yearlings and 3 Festival Sale entrants.
The Lanwades Stud shuttler is a Top 10 sire on the European first-season premiership. His filly Cocquet claimed the Listed Montrose Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket to bring up a black-type first in October.
Sir Percy (Mark Of Esteem) has also produced the stakes placed youngsters Alla Speranza, Percy Jackson and Salford Art.
Kiwi trainer Roger James is getting on with life after the shattering decision to strip He’s Remarkable of his G1 Railway Stakes victory in Perth last week.
He’s Remarkable isn’t the only Pentire galloper in training with James. He also trains the full-brothers The Terminator and C’Est Magnifique who are both by the Rich Hill based sire.
The Terminator holds nominations for all the summer cups, and his up and coming stablemate C’Est Magnifique took his record to three wins from six starts with another stylish win at Pukekohe Park on Wednesday.
James bought The Terminator for $82,500 from Rich Hill’s 2008 draft and purchased C’Est Magnifique for $90,000 the following year.
The Cambridge trainer will be keen to inspect their yearling brother at the 2012 Karaka Sale. Rich Hill will offer the Pentire – Tipper Too (Trempolino) colt at the Select Session and he has been catalogued as Lot 1123.
