Rewilding ready for English St Leger

Godolphin colt Rewilding’s has been installed a short-priced favourite for the G1 English St Leger after he scored a four length victory in the G2 Great Voltigeur at York on Tuesday.  He is best priced at 2-1 to give Sheikh Mohammed a second St Leger in a row after winning it with Mastery in 2009.

Rewilding (3c Tiger Hill — Darara by Top Ville) won his maiden at Maisons-Laffitte last November and resumed with a sound second to Planteur (Danehill Dancer) in the G2 Prix Noailles at Longchamp in April.

He was a four length Listed winner of the Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood in May and was third home to Workforce in the G1 English Derby in June.

Rewilding is out of Watership Down Stud’s foundation mare Darara.  He is a half-brother to outstanding filly Dar Re Mi (Singspiel) as well as another millionaire earner in River Dancer, plus Darazari, Dariyoun, Rhagaas, and Kilimanjaro.

John Ferguson paid 500,000gns for Rewiliding at Book 1 of the 2008 Tattersalls October yearling sale.

Darley sire Tiger Hill  (Danzig) was undefeated as a three year-old winning the G1 German 2000 Guineas and G1 Grosser Preis von Baden against older horses by four lengths.  He was also placed in the G1 Arc de Triomphe.

Tiger Hill jumped the blocks at stud in Europe with fully 15% of his winners developing into black-type winners.  He stood at Gestt Schlenderhan in Germany but is now on Darley’s Dalham Hall roster at Newmarket.
