Armidale Stud sire Savoire Vivre finished the season on a winning note courtesy of Rialto John in the Boags Premium Maiden Plate (1100m) at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart.

Rialto John helped Savoire Vivre finish on top of the Tasmanian winners and wins table (30 – 54) from West Quest (27 -43).  

West Quest won the Tasmanian sires’ premiership for the sixth year in a row with earnings of $1,019,258.  Savoire Vivre was runner-up with $832,850.

Rialto John (3g Savoire Vivre – Always Slick by Never Quit) is trained by Dave and Scott Brinton and he settled just off the pace from his wide draw.  When jockey Lee Smith went for home, the gelding quickly claimed the leaders and went on to score by more than two lengths from Stacy Ann (Street Cry).

It was only his third start and co-trainer Scott Brunton said the win was not a surprise.  “He ran a very nice placing first-up in February.  We put him out for a short break and brought him back to try and win one before we tip him out for a decent spell.”

Rialto John’s older half-sister Miss Slick (Adam) won for the same connections in Hobart last December.  Their dam Always Slick won 8 races in Tasmanian up to 1600m.

Armidale Stud will stand Savoire Vivre (Sadler’s Wells) for a $4,400 (inc gst) this season.
