Darci Coup notched up the second win for first season sire Darci Brahma with a resounding victory in the NZ Bloodstock 2YO Handicap at Riccarton on Wednesday.

Darci Coup (2f Darci Brahma – Nimble Feet by Zoffany) is trained by Michael Pitman and she was too strong in the final furlong to score by three-quarters over Coup Rocky Road (Rock of Gibraltar).  The winner had finished a good third to Endless Gossip on debut at Riccarton earlier this month.  She led from end to end and there looks to be plenty of improvement in the filly as she was a touch green yesterday.

It was a great result from prominent South Island owner Ray Coupland.  He owns the first two home and also has a share in Darci Brahma who stands at The Oaks Stud.  “She has a great temperament this filly,” Coupland said.  “We have a Darci Brahma at home even better than this one so he’s no doubt got some good winners to come.”

Darci Coup is from Nimble Feet who was trained by Ron Quinton to win three races and she was also G2 placed in the 1997 Reisling Trial behind Rose Of Danehill.  

Darci Brahma has already tasted winning success as a sire through his talented son Super Easy who won on debut at Trentham in December.  

Darci Brahma’s progeny were well received at the Karaka Sales this year with 31 yearlings selling for an average of over $90,000.  His top price lot was the half-sister to G1 winner Gee I Jane which was knocked down for $625,000 to Connolly Bloodstock.
