Victoria’s breeding industry is in shock over the death of Swettenham Stud’s operations manager Tim Jones.
Swettenham principal Adam Sangster posted the following message. “It is a very sad time for us losing our beloved Tim Jones. He epitomised the values we believe and will forever be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and colleagues. Thank you for the messages, thoughts and prayers.”
Tim was Swettenham’s trusted horseman and given the important task of parading valuable stallions such as Toronado. He had been at the Nagambie stud since 2005 and led all the high-priced yearlings through the ring at Oaklands. Jonesy was also hands-on when Trust In A Gust was foaled down at Swettenham.
Thoroughbred Breeders’ Victoria joined the condolences to Tim’s partner Leanne, their son Anthony and his parents Michael and Carmel. “There would be few breeders in Victoria who hadn’t dealt with Tim in his time at Swettenham. Local breeders knew Tim as a great horseman and hard-working staff member. Our thoughts are also with Tim’s colleagues at Swettenham.”
“Fly free Timmy” was one reaction of the many on social media. Another, simply “RIP Mate”.
