Risk Aversion set for Coolmore Classic

An autumn campaign targeting the G1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill is the long range goal for Risk Aversion following her impressive win at Doomben on Wednesday.

Stepping up in class from a last start maiden win at Eagle Farm in April, Risk Aversion made it two wins from three starts against Class 4 rivals in the Hidden Dragon @ Lyndhurst Handicap (1030m).

Risk Aversion (4m Encosta De Lago – Subterfuge by Machiavellian) motored home from last on the home turn to down Pointe Dancer by a neck.   She is owned by Gold Coast businessman John Hutchins who won a Coolmore Classic with Australian Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy.

“Our aim with her is to win black type in some suitable fillies and mares races coming up later in the year,” said winning trainer Michael Lakey.  “We’ve had to be patient because she injured a ligament early on.”

Risk Aversion is a half-sister to G2 Sydney winner Shania Dane and Hong Kong star Scintillation.  Their dam Subterfuge has a 2yo colt by Danehill Dancer and a yearling filly by Fastnet Rock.

Subterfuge won at Newmarket before arriving in Australia.  Second dam Sandy Island (Mill Reef) was a G3 winner of the Lancashire Oaks and she is a three-quarter-sister to English Derby winner Slip Anchor (Shirley Heights).

Hutchins has booked Typhoon Tracy into Street Cry this year.
