The prospect of a heavy track at Mornington today will have punters searching for mudlarks. Trainer Mick Kent scratched pre-post favourite Surrey Downs (R4) when the track deteriorated after overnight rain but had no qualms paying up for Robdon Flyer in Race 6 at 3.30pm.
Robdon Flyer (5g Gundane – Twin Ramble by Raami) comes from a family that loves wet tracks – his older half-sister Robdon Eilane won on a slow surface.
Robdon Flyer has won at Cranbourne (slow) and Mornington (heavy) and will be hard to hold out under in-form apprentice Brent Evans.
