Rockhampton winner A Real Dude

John Pointon prepared the first Australian winner from Stromberg Carlson’s latest crop of two year-olds when Ima Real Dude scored a three-quarter length victory in the QTIS Maiden Plate (1000m) at Gladstone on Saturday.

The Rockhampton trainer purchased Ima Real Dude for $9,000 from Raheen Stud at the 2010 Capricorn yearling sale.  The gelding collected $10,475 in prizemoney and QTIS bonuses for Pointon and his partner Prue Howard on Saturday.  It was their third win at Ferguson Park in the last week.

Ima Real Dude (2g Stromberg Carlson – Reliquary by Octagonal) is a younger brother to the Pointon trained Ima Cool Dude who has won races at Rockhampton (2) and Gladstone from just six starts.

Their dam Reliquary has a Stromberg Carlson colt on the ground and she was covered by Raheen sire Publishing last year.

Stromberg Carlson (Redoute’s Choice) has now sired 41 winners of 70 races.  He had already been represented by South Korean winner Saeyeongung from his current crop of juveniles.

Raheen will offer two Stromberg Carlson yearlings at the Capricornia yearling sale at Rockhampton on May 6.

Lot 26 is a Stromberg Carlson colt from Doomben winner Kewpie Doll (Celestial Dancer).  He is a younger half-brother to Showie Doll (Shovhog) who has been nominated for Emerald this Saturday.

Lot 57 is a Stromberg Carlson filly by Santiago Babe (Spectacular Spy).  Her dam has a perfect record with 8 to race for 8 winners!
