Progressive Victorian farm Rosemont Stud will stand Toorak Toff for an unchanged fee of $15,000 (plus gst) in 2014.
With the first foals by the fastest ever G1 Golden Rose winner to sell at Magic Millions weanling sale this weekend, Rosemont’s Anthony Mithen has a growing confidence that his young gun stallion is exactly what the Australian market wants.
“The buyers want athletic, strong horses that give you a chance to run fast at two, train on to be three year-olds and are tough enough to go on with it at four,” Mithen said. “They want a stallion with genuine Group 1 class – not just flash in the pan one-hit wonders. And they want stallions to be fast. Well there has been none faster than Toorak Toff in the stallion making Golden Rose.
“He was Group winner and Magic Millions winner of three races at two, Group 1 winner of a proper race at three and trained on to win the G1 Rupert Clarke Stakes at four. And he has simply outstanding foals on the ground. We will be happy to offer breeders that are serious about Toorak Toff a discount this season, but we believe he stands head and shoulders above the rest at this price point.”
Inglis bloodstock advisors Simon Vivian and Brett Gilding visited Rosemont for weanling inspections last week and were glowing in their praise of the stallion’s stock.
“I was delighted with the types Toorak Toff is leaving,” Vivian said. “They are a really good batch of horses. I’m really looking forward to 2015 as we are going to have a fantastic draft of them. He is leaving a really, really good product on the ground.”
Rosemont also announced Starspangledbanner will cover a very limited book of mares with his price on application. “We will be covering only 50 mares to give him every chance to get those mares in foal,” Mithen said. “There’s only a handful of spots left, so breeders should contact us quickly.”
