NZ bred stallion Routine Blue sired his first winner at the shortened Wangaratta meeting on Monday. His Seymour based gelding Fevs Choice saluted in the SED Consulting Maiden Plate (1170m).
Fevs Choice (4g Routine Blue – Our Pollyanna by Toy Pindarri) had been unplaced in all 8 starts before hitting the line over a length clear on a Heavy 8 at Wang. The winner is prepared by Jennifer Williams and was ridden by her daughter Rebecca who has been on loan to Albury trainer Brett Cavanough.
Routine Blue (Blues Traveller) is a half-brother to Miss Tessla (Crested Wave) who was a stakes winner at Flemington and Morphettville. He was trained by Jack Denham and won the 2YO Starmaker Plate at Muswellbrook in 1999 before going on to further victories at Warwick Farm (3) and Hawkesbury (3).
Routine Blue sired 7 first-crop foals in 2006, including Fevs Choice. He sired another 4 foals in 2008 but they’re the last of his progeny registered with the Australian Stud Book.
