Royal Ascot winner sold to Hong Kong

Top English two year-old Frederick Engels has been sold to race Hong Kong.  The 2011-12 HKFC season starts at Sha Tin this Sunday, September 11.

Frederick Engels (Iceman) was trained by David Brown to win the LR Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and the G2 July Stakes at Newmarket.  He was beaten but had excuses at his last two outings in the G1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh and the G1 Prix Morny at Deauville.

The colt’s original owners Norton Common Farm Racing accepted a significant offer from Sheikh Fahad’s Pearl Bloodstock.  Before his recruitment, Frederick Engels was quoted a 33/1 for the 2012 English 2000 Guineas.

The HK Jockey Club was active at the Arqana Yearling Sale in Deauville last month buying six colts topped by a Shamardal (210,000 euros), Oasis Dream (180,000), Elusive City (120,000) and Danehill Dancer (110,000).
