Royal assignment for King’s Rose

Redoute’s Choice filly King’s Rose can extend her lead in the NZ Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series in the G2 NZB Royal Stakes (2000m) at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day.

King’s Rose (3f Redoute’s Choice – Nureyev’s Girl by Nureyev) heads the Series after her wins in the G1 NZ 1000 Guineas and G3 Eulogy Stakes.  She is trained by Jason Bridgman and is 6.5 points clear of second placed Smoulder.

The Lance Noble trained Annie Higgins (O’Reilly) will be one to watch after her placing in the G2 Eight Carat Classic on Boxing Day.

Shamabelle (Shamardal) and Insurgent (Ishiguru) will both be suited by 2000m on Saturday after hitting the line well behind Yourein in the Listed Championship Stakes Prelude (2100m) last time out.

Last-start winner Pink Beach (Johar) must be considered as will last start placegetters Valtier (Fastnet Rock), Scarlett Lady (Savabeel) and Gucci Girl (Hawkeye).

The Royal Stakes winner will receive 8 points in the Series.  It will be run at 4.25pm (NZ time).
