Rubick to stand at Coolmore Stud

Coolmore Stud has acquired an interest in brilliant Encosta de Lago two year-old colt Rubick.

He will race for a new partnership comprising the existing owners and Coolmore with the intention of him joining the stud’s roster in the Hunter Valley at the completion of his racing career.

“We’ve been looking for a son of Encosta de Lago who is coming to the end of his stud career,” Coolmore Australia’s Tom Magnier said.  “We think we’ve found him in Rubick.  He’s a particularly good looking individual with unbelievable ability and a sensational stallion’s pedigree.  He looks the real deal.”

Rubick earned an extraordinary 122 Timeform rating after a freakish debut at Randwick last month.  That figure ranks him among the very best Australian two year-old colts of the last decade.

Co-owner David Raphael, who selected and purchased Rubick for $460,000 at the 2013 Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale, is excited by the new arrangement.  “Gerald Ryan says Rubick is the best he’s trained and we’ve been fielding expressions of interest in him,” Raphael revealed.  “The opportunity to partner with Coolmore was an irresistible one and I hope that we are lucky together.”
