A Redoute’s Choice brother to Melito took the honours on Day 3 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions on Friday.
Offered by Reavill Farm late in the session, the colt attracted a final bid of $750,000 from leading Sydney trainer Gerald Ryan. “There’s a lot to like about him,” Ryan said. “He is very athletic and is a good mover. I wasn’t sure whether I would buy him until I saw him out the back just before he went into the ring.
“Melito was a top mare for our stable. This bloke looks an earlier type than his sister so he could be one for the Magic Millions Classic next year.”
Ryan will saddle up star youngster Amorino in this year’s edition of the $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Saturday.
Turnover has reached almost $52 million after three sessions on the Gold Coast and the average is up 2% to $127,684. The clearance rate maintained upward momentum to 84% overall.
Gai Waterhouse and James Harron continued their buying spree with a number of top purchases on Friday including the More Than Ready – Aqua D’Amore colt for $680,000.
Day 4 of the sale will be held from 6pm (Qld time) on Saturday following the $4.30 million Magic Millions Raceday at the neighbouring Gold Coast Turf Club.
