I Love It has continued John Salanitri’s affinity with Emirates Park stallion Artie Schiller.

The Caulfield trainer prepared the filly for an impressive victory in the Slickpix Hcp (1000m) at Sandown on Wednesday.  He has also won three races this season with her four year-old brother The Unexpected.

I Love It (3f Artie Schiller – Not That Innocent by Foxhound) showed significant promise to take her record to two victories plus a Group 3 placing from just three starts.  “She returned from injury with an outstanding win at Sandown,” Salanitri said on his website.  “It was her first run since an operation to remove bone chips from a knee in October.”

Salanitri, who trained Road To Success to win the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes in 2000, is eying bigger races in the coming months with I Love It in Adelaide.  They include the Redelva Stakes on April 12, G1 Sportingbet Stakes on April 26 or more likely the G2 Sportingbet Stakes on May 3.

A whole host of Victorian trainers have enjoyed success with the Artie Schiller breed.  Besides Salanitri, they include Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra, Darren Weir, Michael Kent, Michael Hickmont, John Sadler, Robert Smerdon and Robbie Griffiths.

I Love It and The Unexpected are bred on the same Danzig cross as three of Artie Schiller’s 20 individual stakes winners.  Black-type winners Big Chill, Mezeray Miss and Senator Beck are from respective maternal grand-daughters or great grand-daughters of Maroof, Danehill and Dayjur.

Similarly, the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (Male) winner Outstrip is by a Danzig-line stallion in Exceed And Excel from a daughter of Artie Schiller’s sire El Prado.
