The latest More Than Ready winner for leading owner Bob Peters is only a run or two away from graduating to black-type ranks in Perth.
His 3yo filly Sally’s Realm unleashed a tremendous turn of foot to snatch a narrow victory in the Murlpirrmarra Connection Maiden (1200m) at Belmont on Wednesday. Appearing in public for the second time, she gave front-runner Come On Over four lengths at the furlong to win running away by a long-neck.
“We’ve looked after her and that was a nice way to start off,” Peters said. “We gave her a month between her debut and today. I wanted to make sure everything was right and it worked out.
“I doubt if we will send her straight into Listed company. I want to find a suitable 3yo race first.”
Peters and his wife Sandra (pictured) have bred and raced numerous More That Ready winners headed by Group 1 fillies Dreamaway (WA Derby) and Perfect Reflection (Kingston Town Classic).
They sourced Sally’s Realm through Belmont Bloodstock agent Damon Gabbedy (FBAA) for $320,000 at the 2016 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Bred and sold by Vinery, she is from Sally’s World (Agnes World), a winning half-sister to VRC Standish Hcp-Gr.3 winner Publishing (Testa Rossa).
Second dam Sally Magic was runner-up to Testa Rossa in the 1999 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Sally’s World’s first mating with More Than Ready produced Better Than Ready who won four stakes sprints in Sydney and Brisbane before retiring to stand at Lyndhurst Stud in Queensland.
Stable jockey Willie Pike is looking forward to piloting Sally’s Realm this summer. “She didn’t get away but I was able to poke through into a nice spot,” he said. “The leader skipped away in the straight and I thought we would finish a good second. But she really knuckled down and won it easily in the end.”
More Than Ready was represented by two new Kentucky-bred maiden winners on Sunday – 2yo filly Data Dependent (Belmont Park) and 2yo colt Title Ready (Keeneland). The Vinery champion has now sired 15 individual juvenile winners in North America this year.
Data Dependent was green as grass coming from midfield over 1600m for trainer Chad Brown and Title Ready toughed out a half-length victory over 1400m for Steve Asmussen.
More Than Ready has three entrants for the Breeders’ Cup Juveniles at Del Mar on Friday and Saturday week (Nov 3 & 4) – Saratoga stakes winners Catholic Boy and Copper Bullet plus the Brown trained filly Rushing Fall.
Vinery stands More Than Ready for a $66,000 (inc gst) service fee.
