Exceed And Excel colt Samski will start first-up in the Silks Function Centre Maiden at Bendigo this afternoon (Race 3 at 2.12pm) and will give a good sight going on his two runs during the autumn.
Trainer Russell Cameron sent Samski to Ballarat for his debut back in January and the colt overcome a slow start and a check in running to finish third in a race won by Bawaardi. The winner went on to run sixth in the Blue Diamond and fourth in the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes.
Second time out, Samski was placed behind top filly Headway in a Saturday race at Caulfield. That’s a winning form-line for a provincial maiden
Samski (3c Exceed And Excel – Gypsy Geena by Woodman) is out of a winning half-sister to Lotteria who was a G1 winner at Randwick and Flemington and she was also runner-up in a G1 Cox Plate.
Samski is a Westbury Stud homebred and he was catalogued but later withdrawn from the 2008 Inglis Easter yearling sale. Westbury owner Eric Watson is best known for his Group 1 winning filly Grand Archway.
