Scenic strikes again in New Zealand

Magic Millions graduate Occidentalis earned his first black-type victory when downing a crack field in the Listed Jim & John Evans Classic (1600m) at Pukekohe on Sunday.  Like G1 NZ Derby winner Coniston Bluebird, he is a son of Scenic and was a $12,000 buy at the 2004 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Occidentalis (6h Scenic – Rosa’s Wish by Rory’s Jester) swept to the lead after covering ground in the straight and then  strolled clear for an easy win.  Left in his wake were the G1 winners Nom Du Jeu, Ginga Dude and Boundless.

Occidentalis is one of two winners from two runners for the stakes performed Rory’s Jester mare Rosa’s Wish.  He is an older half-brother to a Tiger Hill filly that has been catalogued for the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale byGoodwood Farm.

Rosa’s Wish is a sister to stakes winners Rosa’s Image, Rosa’s Joy and Rosa’s Path and a half sister to fellow stakes winner Cohort.   Rosa’s Joy, a winner of the G3 Merson Cooper Stakes, has gone to produce the stakes winners Rosa’s Spur and Rosarino.
