Sea The Stars serves southern book in Ireland

The Aga Khan Studs announced Sea The Stars will be available to cover a limited book of mares to southern hemisphere time at 85,000 euros (AUD 123,455) this year.

“There has been considerable interest in Sea The Stars from many southern hemisphere breeders ever since he retired to stud,” the Aga Khan Studs Irish manager Pat Downes said.  “This is a great opportunity to use a wonderful racehorse with an impeccable pedigree who has made such an outstanding start to his stud career.”

The immaculately-bred Sea The Stars has made an exceptional start to his stud career with the winners of six Group races topped by G1 English Oaks winner Taghrooda.

The Gilltown Stud stallion is also responsible for French Derby runner-up Shamkiyr as well as Prix Saint Alary second Vazira.  He could well add another classic to his honours list with unbeaten Group 2 scorer Sea The Moon, favourite for the German Derby in Hamburg in July.

Sea The Stars boasts excellent statistics for his progeny, with 50% of winners to runners for his two and three-year-olds and a 17% black-type performers to runners for the same generations.

He is second only to his half-brother Galileo in Europe in terms of stakes winners to runners in 2014, and third in the European standings on percentage of winners to runners.

Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) was retired after two sensational seasons of racing.  He captured the English 2000 Guineas, Epsom Derby and Arc de Triomphe among an unbeaten run of six wins in 2009.
