Searching for a Swift stallion?

Former top-class sprinter Swift Alliance is top value for Northern NSW breeders searching for a stallion in the $5,000 range.

Swift Alliance is based at Akaroa Thoroughbreds in Grafton and studmaster Brent Davenport stands him in association with Gooree Pastoral owner Eduardo Cojuangco.

“Mr Cojuangco likes his stallions to be lightly raced when they go to stud and Swift Alliance won 9 sprints in Sydney and Melbourne from just 19 starts,” Davenport said.  “He’s a perfect match for breeders looking for a BOBS stallion in the $5,000 bracket.”

Swift Alliance’s first foal this spring is a colt from Gooree mare Mountain Dew born on August 23.  The dam is by Snowland and she was also trained by Gai Waterhouse to win as a three year-old at Canterbury.

“Gai said ‘Swifty’ was a favourite with everyone at Tulloch Lodge,” Davenport explained.  “She would have loved a stable full of horses like him.”

Swift Alliance is a son of AJC Derby winner Don Eduardo (Zabeel) but he carved out a career as sprinter winning the G3 Sebring Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill twice and he also captured the G3 Hong Kong Plate (1200m) down the straight at Flemington.

“He had a brilliant turn of foot and used it to full advantage,” Davenport said.  “I guess he ran against pedigree but that should help his stock develop into strong sprinter-milers.”

Swift Alliance will also suit broodmare owners that breed to race.  “We sponsored a race on Ramornie Stakes day in July and the feedback was very encouraging.  It helps that our agistment costs and other outgoings are much cheaper compared to the Hunter Valley.”

The Terry McCarthy trained mare Shez Epic (Falvelon) won the Swift Alliance @ Akaroa Stud Stakes (1200m) at Grafton and she is among his second book this year.
