Toowoomba two-year-old Outback Phantom claimed top honours in the $50,000 QTIS 600 Dalby Engine Rebuild Hcp last Saturday.

Outback Phantom collected a $32,000 debut win for owners Bob and Maree Frappell and Phil and Maree Gracie.  He sat behind a wall of gallopers before hooking wide to score a half length win.

The Frappells operate Clear Mountain Fairview Stud and bred the winner by mating resident sire Outback Prince from Celtic Cloak.

After being passed-in at the 2010 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Outback Phantom was broken-in and educated at Clear Mountain Fairview before transferring to trainer Tony Sears at Toowoomba.

“Outback Phantom’s win was won on pure talent,” Sears said. “Nothing went his way, but he has an incredible turn of foot and there are exciting times ahead of him.

“There are a number of restricted QTIS 600 races over the next couple of months and the attractive prizemoney is worth waiting for.”

Outback Phantom is the sixth runner and second winner for freshman sire Outback Prince after Hallowed Pearl.

Standing at Clear Mountain Fairview on Queensland’s Darling Downs, Outback Prince, a Group 1 winning two-year-old, has proved in-demand and has recently covered his fourth book of mares at a service fee of $11,000.

Outback Prince is a son of international racing success Desert Prince. He was the second fastest winner of the G1 T J Smith Classic clocking 1.34.10s for 1600m.

His winning time was faster than Show A Heart, Mossman, Zedative, Luskin Star and Zephyr Zip.

His dam Terrestial (Star Watch) was Broodmare of the Year in 2006 after producing Group 1 winners Outback Prince and his half brother Hotel Grand.
