The growing appeal of Queensland’s QTIS scheme has encouraged one of the Sunshine State’s most historic thoroughbred breeding establishments to install its first stallion in decades.

Banchory Thoroughbreds proprietors Richard and Mary Lee Trivett will stand Seidnazar this season and he has all the prerequisites to sire notable QTIS winners for many seasons to come.

Seidnazar (Rory’s Jester-Dangerous Seam by Straight Strike) is currently represented by his first two year-old crop.  Among his first half-dozen runners in 2009-10 is the Sydney-trained filly Derippa, twice a winner already this season including the valuable $46,000 Wellington Boot.

Also figuring in the 2yo ranks for Seidnazar this season has been Nastro Blu, a Brisbane metropolitan placegetter at the beginning of the year and the recent third in the $124,000 Capricorn Sales Classic in Rockhampton.

Both Derippa and Nastro Blu are raced by the Trivetts and when the opportunity arose to stand Seidnazar at Banchory, the couple did not have to think twice.

The Trivetts also raced Seidnazar during his distinguished career when the Rory’s Jester colt was among the very first stakes winning juveniles of the 2004-05 racing season.

Trained by Peter Moody out of Caulfield, Seidnazar was assigned the Listed MVRC St Albans Stakes (1000m), a traditional supporting event on the W.S. Cox Plate program, very early on in his racing life and the ultra-precocious youngster proceeded to join an elite group of performers to have won the prestigious black-type 2yo contest.

Seidnazar also performed with distinction during his autumn 2yo campaign, a preparation that witnessed him compete in Melbourne and Sydney with considerable affect.

A third placing in the Group 3 MRC Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) was followed by the highlight of his career — second place in the Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).

In the Blue Diamond Stakes of that year, only Undoubtedly managed to get passed Seidnazar after the brilliant front-runner had lead from the outset.

Finishing behind Seidnazar on that occasion were the likes of Perfectly Ready and Bradbury’s Luck, two young stallions now at a very similar stage of their own stud career.

Seidnazar was very much bred to perform at two and subsequently sire more than his fair share of juvenile winners at stud.

Seidnazar is a robust son of a celebrated Golden Slipper winner Rory’s Jester and his dam Dangerous Seam (NZ) was also a high-class juvenile in her own right, winning the time honoured Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial Stakes in her first year of competition.

Seidnazar is also a full-brother to the Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes winner Real Jester, who has since sired a Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes winner himself in the form of Red Pluton.   These are bloodlines perfectly suited by Queensland’s burgeoning QTIS 600.

First operated in the early 1900s, Banchory has been associated with some of Queensland’s finest thoroughbreds for very many years and will once again make available the services of a highly commercial stallion for local breeders this coming season.

To stand at a fee of $7,700 (inc. gst), Seidnazar is to be regarded as a very welcome addition to the Queensland stallion ranks and is expected to be supported accordingly.
