Service fee pending for Sacred Falls

Dual Doncaster Mile winner Sacred Falls (NZ) will stand at Waikato Stud later this year and the G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes will have a big bearing on his service fee.

“Sacred Falls will be at stud this year and we’re getting pretty close to setting our service fees,” Waikato Stud’s general manager Mark Chittick said.  “There’s probably been a little bit of change after his second Doncaster last Saturday, so it’s a good position to be in.

Bred at Waikato Stud, he was sold for $160,000 at the 2011 NZB National Sale at Karaka.  “I went down to watch him gallop at the beginning of his three-year-old spring campaign and I said straight away he was the closest thing I’d seen to O’Reilly galloping since O’Reilly.”

Waikato secured a stake in the colt after his 2012 victory in the G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas.

O’Reilly has been in flying form of late.  His daughter Silent Achiever has racked up a Group 1 hat-trick since the turn of the year, while her paternal sibling O’Marilyn landed the Group 1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes.  Other black type-winning O’Reilly fillies in 2014 include Hera, Miss Selby, Emerald Queen and Pussy O’Reilly.

Sacred Falls is a $4.60 second-favourite behind Carlton House ($3.50) for the G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick this Saturday.
