Service fee soars for War Front

The service fee for red-hot Kentucky stallion War Front has jumped from $15,000 to $60,000 at Claiborne Farm.

War Front (Danzig) has sired seven stakes winners this year for more than $2.70 million in earnings.  He is currently third on the USA second-season sires’ premiership behind Bernardini and Congrats.

His first crop includes The Factor (G1 Pat O’Brien Hcp), Summer Soiree (G1 Del Mar Oaks) and Soldat (G2 Fountain Of Youth Stakes).  The second is headed by State Of Play who was a G2 winner of the With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga in September.

The Factor is expected to be part of Bob Baffert’s Breeders’ Cup team and will attempt another G1 in the Ancient Title Stakes this Saturday.  He holds Santa Anita’s 1200m track record at 1.06.98s.

A War Front colt sold for $250,000 to top the Barretts 2YO May Sale in California.  He also topped the Canadian yearling sale at Woodbine last month with a colt that made $140,000.

War Front was a G2 winner of the Vanderbilt Hcp at Saratoga and was runner-up to Henny Hughes in the G1 Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont before retiring to Claiborne Farm.
