Sessions completes superb day for Darley

Sessions completed a superb afternoon’s racing for Darley on Saturday with a G2 victory in The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick.

Sheikh Mohammed’s Australian operation had been struggling since the start of the season.  “It turns around quickly in this game,” a relieved trainer Peter Snowden said.  “It was good to see Sessions win and there’s still quite a bit of improvement to come.”

Sessions (4h Lonhro – Seances by Canny Lad) will be set for the G2 Gilgai Stakes at Flemington on October 5.  He is the 40th stakes winner for Lonhro and his second on Saturday after NZ filly Bounding claimed the G3 Breeders Stakes at Hastings.

A homebred for Darley, Sessions is a brother to G2 winner Renaissance.  Their stakes winning dam Seances is a half-sister to champion filly Unworldly as well as G2 winner Gordo.  The mare has a 2yo colt called An Eternity (Lonhro) and a yearling filly by Street Cry.

Lonhro stands at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $88,000 (inc gst) alongside his G1 winning sons Denman and Benfica.
