Redoute’s Choice has sired 7 stakes winners around the globe in the last 7 weeks and Lindsay Park filly Alzora added her name to the list at Caulfield on Saturday.
Alzora (3f Redoute’s Choice – Bryce Canyon by Gulch) defied running down to break her maiden in the LR Ethereal Stakes (2000m) and trainer David Hayes has big plans for the promising filly. “She just needed to get out to her correct distance,” Hayes said. “We may go to the G2 Wakeful Stakes or she could go straight to the G1 Victorian Oaks.”
Arrowfield champion Redoute’s Choice sired Miss Finland (2006) and Samantha Miss (2008) to win the Victorian Oaks. Alzora’s dam is by a Mr Prospector sire from a Sadler’s Wells mare and that’s the same pedigree pattern as Miss Finland.
Bred and sold by Emirates Park, Alzora was a $115,000 buy at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions for Dorrington Farm owner Rob Crabtree. She hails from the extended family of 1977 USA Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew.
Alzora is the 94th individual stakes winner for Redoute’s Choice and, at the current rate, he could crack a century in the New Year.
His latest winning streak began with Albrecht (G3 Up & Coming) and Dystopia (LR Toy Show Quality) at Warwick Farm and they have been followed at regular intervals by Pure Elegance (NZ G3 Gold Trail Stakes), Packing OK (HKJC G3), Shaqira (German LR) and Abidewithme (NZ LR Coupland Stakes).
Alzora brought up a double for Redoute’s Choice after A Time for Julia won the opening race on the Caulfield Cup card. Trainer Peter Moody tips a black-type future for his filly but not until next year.
“I would like to take her to Flemington for a stakes race but she has just about come to the end of this preparation,” Moody said. “She is still learning but in 12 months she will be a cracking mare and fully mature.”
