Emerging Eliza Park sire Sharkbite hit pay dirt when his first foal to go under the hammer made $37,000 at last week’s Inglis Melbourne weanling sale.
Sharkbite is a stakes winning son of Redoute’s Choice and hails from one of the world’s great stallion families. He is closely related to Dansili, Three Valleys and Leroidesanimaux, the sire of 2011 Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom.
Dansili’s dam Hasili has thrown five Group 1 winners on the same Danehill cross as Sharkbite including Breeders Cup winner Banks Hill.
Sharkbite’s colt in question is from Thousand Veils, a Zabeel Listed winner of the SAJC St Leger. He was sold to Gary Mudgway of Grange Thoroughbreds.
Shrewd breeders and trainers are keen on Sharkbite and Eliza Park’s Mark Lindsay confirmed his foals are some of the best seen this season.
Sharkbite is an outstanding individual and his progeny have followed suit. He was Victoria’s most popular young stallion under $10,000 last year covering over 130 mares.
