All American sired his 7th winner in 7 days on Thursday when Sheeza Sheila completed a massive week for the Geisel Park sire at Northam.
Sheeza Sheila was probably the pick of them and can keep improving off a two-length victory in the Avonwest Transport Maiden (1600m). The lightly-raced 3yo filly appreciated getting out to a mile for the first time after looking vulnerable coming to the corner when collared by All American mare Sugared Up.
“The leaders went along and she settled forward in the running line,” trainer Jason Pateman reported. “Then she had to keep working when the other horse (Sugared Up) made a move and, to her credit, she fought back for Troy (Turner).”
Sheeza Sheila switched wide into the straight and that also made a difference in the Heavy 8 conditions. “She can go a lot better over further but we will stay at 1600m for the time being. There’s Class 1 at Belmont in two weeks and that will be her last chance for a Westspeed bonus.
“Troy said she’s a work in progress and will be better with blinkers but we wont rush her because she can be a bit keen anyway.”
Sheeza Sheila is the final foal of Dawson Stud-bred mare Valarianne (Bletchley Park) and is her third winner following Just A Fluke (Metaldale) and Snazzler (Mahuta). It’s a WA family going back four generations to Snowy Kitty (Denton) who won a G3 Belmont Sprint in 1988.
She is a homebred for Steve Roberts, his son-in-law and daughter Ed & Stacey Smith and their children. They also raced Gunnago (Trade Fair) with Pateman and he earned over $350,000 in a career highlighted by wins at Belmont (3) and Ascot in 2017-18.
Geisel Park stands All American (Red Ransom) for $4,400 alongside Manhattan Rain ($8,250), Aysar ($8,800) and Winning Rupert ($8,800). All fees (inc GST). For bookings or further information, contact stud manager Conor Dunlop on 0447 434 735.
