Glenlogan Park sire Show A Heart has won the Queensland Stallion of the Year award for the second year running.

Show A Heart (Brave Warrior) was Australia’s Champion first season sire (2006) and Champion second season sire (2007).  He sired 97 winners in 2009-10 including the stakes winners Fifteen Carat, Rightfully Yours, Dual Chamber, Heart of Dreams, Toorak Toff and Woorim.   His earnings for the season totalled $4.30 million.

“His future is so exciting because he’s getting a better book of mares each season,” said Glenlogan Park studmaster Steve Morley.  “He will be a Top 10 Australian sire without a doubt and he will do Queensland proud.”

Lyndhurst Stud stallion Hidden Dragon scooped the pool in the juvenile division at the TBQA awards.  

Hidden Dragon (Danehill) was Queensland’s Champion 2yo Stallion and Champion First Season Stallion in 2009-10.  He sired 11 winners including the stakes performers Obsidian Dragon and Steel Dragon.  His youngsters accrued $940,155 in prizemoney.

“I think he’s a great prospect for Lyndhurst over the next few years,” studmaster Jeff Kruger said.  “He’s ranked fourth in Australia on earnings and that’s without a Golden Slipper winner, or any big race like that.  It’s a really big achievement.”

Hidden Dragon follows his Lyndhurst associate Sequalo who won the Queensland 2YO award in 2009.

Not surprisingly, Tracy’s Element was named Queensland’s Broodmare of the Year.  She is owned by TBQA member and Gold Coast resident John Hutchins.

Tracy’s Element (Last Tycoon) was destined to be a champion broodmare after an outstanding racing career that included three Group 1 victories in South Africa.  Now 20, she is the dam of 7 to race including Kylikwong, Red Element and Champion mare Typhoon Tracy.

“It’s sensational,” Hutchins said.  “To produce a horse like Typhoon Tracy is just wonderful.”  The Red Ransom mare was a Group 1 winner of the VRC Empire Rose Stakes, STC Coolmore Classic, Queen of the Turf Stakes, MRC C F Orr Stakes and Futurity Stakes.

“I would like to congratulate not only our award winners, but all Queensland breeders,” TBQA president Basil Nolan said.  “Our industry is really going from strength to strength and I am sure the upcoming season will continue to highlight the Maroons success.”
