Show A Heart took centre stage at Sunshine Coast’s signature meeting on Saturday.  The Glenlogan Park stallion struck twice with Listed winners Fifteen Carat and Woorim.

Fifteen Carat (3g Show a Heart – Brynica by Snippets) came with a searching run in the straight to score by three-quarters of a length in the Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m).  The promising gelding had won twice at Eagle Farm on either side of the Xmas – New Year holidays and he’s kept raising the bar this time in.

Fifteen Carat returned for the winter carnival with placings behind Beethog in the G3 Gold Coast Guineas and Rothesay in the G2 Queensland Guineas.  “It was a great run behind Rothesay and he would have won if ridden a little closer,” trainer Howard Wilson claimed.  “He’ll go for a spell now and then head to Sydney in the spring.”

Wilson, who started his training career in NSW, has been in the game for almost 50 years.  His first feature win was with Tulloch filly Dahma Star in the 1967 Christmas Cup at Rosehill.

Fifteen Carat was a $22,000 purchase for Robert Stewart from the Warrandale Stud draft at the 2008 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale.  He has since accrued over $192,000 in prizemoney.

Wilson prepares Fifteen Carat for a syndicate that includes Melissa Jackson who is the fiancé of winning jockey Stathi Katsidis.  “He’s very good but right now,” Katsidis said.  “But I think he can go to the next level with a little more improvement.”

Woorim split runners in the straight to defeat last start Eye Liner Stakes winner Adnocon by a length in the Listed Glasshouse Handicap.  It completed a winning hat-trick for the gelding who was retained by breeder Ross Cutts after failing to reach a $75,000 reserve at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Woorim (4g Show a Heart – Wabble by Canadian Silver) has now won 6 times in 20 starts for earnings of $315,000.  Trainer Rob Heathcote will set him for the Listed Ramornie Handicap at Grafton later this month.  “His feet bruise very easily,” Heathcote said.  “We’ve had to pack his feet with special clays and poultices and now we’re seeing the results.”

Woorim backed up seven days after winning over 1400 metres on the G1 Winter Stakes undercard at Eagle Farm.  “He was only a fraction slower than Melito last week,” Heathcote explained.  “I don’t take much notice of times but he deserved a chance in a race like the Glasshouse.”

Woorim is a younger brother to My Limit who has won 6 races in Brisbane and also owns a G3 placing in the 2008 Rough Habit Plate.  They both sport the same white, black and orange silks as Show A Heart who has now sired 29 stakes performers.  His overall of individual winners totals 182 at a tip-top strike-rate of 60%.

Show A Heart heads the 2010 Glenlogan Park roster at a $30,250 (inc gst) service fee.
