Class mare More Joyous continued to demoralise her Sydney rivals with a runaway victory in the G2 Theo Marks Quality at Rosehill on Saturday.  The John Singleton homebred defeated Rothesay by more than three lengths eased down.

“By far the best horse I have ever ridden,” winning hoop Corey Brown said.  “Any jockey who takes credit for riding her home is a fool.  She is explosive and I think she would be even better if she has something to chase.”

More Joyous (4m More Than Ready – Sunday Joy by Sunday Silence) will race next up in the G1 Epsom Handicap before heading to Melbourne for the Cox Plate.  The mare is unbeaten in her last six starts starting in the G2 Tea Rose Stakes at Rosehill 12 months ago.  She followed up with wins in the G1 Flight Stakes, G2 Surround Stakes, G2 Light Fingers Stakes, LR Sheraco Stakes and Saturday’s Theo Marks.

“Life’s easy really,” Singleton beamed.  “You buy a More Than Ready, give them to Gai (Waterhouse) and they send you the cheques.”

More Joyous is bred in the silk department.  She is by Vinery’s champion Southern Halo sire More Than Ready from G1 Australian Oaks winner Sunday Joy.  Her dam is a half-sister to G1 winner Tuesday Joy.  Second dam Joie Denise won the G1 Queensland Oaks.

A Redoute’s Choice – Sunday Joy colt will go under the hammer at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale from Singleton’s Strawberry Hill Stud.

Strawberry Hill will also offer an Encosta de Lago colt from Joie as part of its draft at January’s pin-up sale.  The dam is a stakes performed half sister to Sunday Joy and Tuesday Joy.
