Flying filly Sara Bay kick-started the second Kentucky crop of Ready’s Image with a sizzling sprint victory at Monmouth Park on Saturday.
Sara Bay (2f Ready’s Image – Naughty Bridget by Belong to Me) stalked the leader Sea Bubble and then accelerated clear at the top of the straight. The winning margin was next to five lengths over 900 metres even though jockey Joe Bravo let her coast to the line.
She is raced by Glenview Farm and is from an unraced sister to Skate Away who was a Listed winner of the Woodchopper Hcp in New Orleans.
Ready’s Image (USA) shuttles from Walmac Farm to Lincoln Farm and he has sired 17 individual winners to date in both hemispheres.
Broadway Hat joined that line-up at Suffolk Downs on Saturday with an on-pace victory over 1000 metres. He duelled with Vinny The Emperor and then drew off under light encouragement from leading hoop Tammi Piermarini to win by four lengths.
Broadway Hat (3c Ready’s Image – Queen of Valentine by Storm Creek) is owned and trained by David Jacobson in partnership with the Drawing Away Stable. He cost $220,000 at 2012 Ocala March 2YO Sale after clocking 10 seconds even for 200 metres – the second fastest among 114 breezes at that distance.
Ready’s Image sired him from an unraced half-sister to Feline Story (Tale of the Cat), a G3 winner at Belmont and Monmouth Park.
Lincoln Farm owner Nick Posa has kept his service fee at $5,500 (inc gst) this year even though his yearlings averaged more than $50,000 at the 2012 and 2013 Inglis Classic yearling sales.
Ready’s Image (More Than Ready) will stand alongside Arlington (Red Ransom) who is also priced at $5,500 (inc gst).
Arlington’s first foals are due this spring. A half-brother to Savabeel, he won five races and was G1 placed behind Weekend Hussler in the 2008 Randwick Guineas (1600m). Broodmare owners can call Posa for further details on 0417 903 578.
