Scenic Lodge sire Snippetson was represented by his first WA-bred winner when Bubaroochy landed a long-priced plunge at Pinjarra on Saturday.
Bubaroochy settled at the tail of the field under Mitch Pateman before ranging up to odds-on favourite Rubic Rose (Rubick) in the straight. He did best in a head-bobbing finish to the Programmed Property Services Plate (1200m) and they cleared out from third-placed Eye Of The Day (Blackfriars).
Stable followers had backed the Stephen Miller-trained youngster from $34 into $7. He is raced by a syndicate that includes Craig Yeo, Tony Buhagiar, Michael Brennan, Paul Higgins and Graham Cornell.
They also owned his Ascot-winning dam Mamaroochy (Duporth) and she has a Snippetson filly on the ground at Scenic Lodge. Second-dam Wishes (Danehill) was purchased for $20,000 by Belmont Bloodstock agent Damon Gabbedy at the 2011 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale when she was carrying Mamaroochy.
Bubaroochy is the fourth Snippetson to face the starter this season following city placegetters Downforce and Tinsnip. His Justin Warwick-trained filly Snippiranha is also ready to debut following a trial win at Belmont.
Snippetson has sired 416 individual winners at a 66% strike-rate from his previous base in the Hunter Valley. There have been 28 stakes performers to date – the most recent Queen La Diva was placed in the LR Tasmanian Guineas last Friday.
Scenic Lodge has catalogued 7 of the 15 Snippetson yearlings for the Perth Magic Millions. Among the highlights are the half-brothers to Ascot stakes winners Zuccheros (Lot 38) and Samovare (Lot 122).
