Contract Racing’s homebred mare Solicit will chase an elusive Group 1 victory at the Sydney autumn carnival after a dominant, front-running display at Sandown.
Her four-length win in Saturday’s G3 Summoned Stakes (1500m) had trainer Gerald Ryan pin-pointing the $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 13 as a likely target at the elite level.
Solicit (Street Cry) has won four stakes races up to the G2 Kewney Stakes at Flemington but has fallen just short in Group 1 company with placings in the VRC Oaks and Vinery Stud Stakes. “Her last run in the (G1) Myer Stakes should be forgiven,” Ryan said. “She was racing second-up and probably got to the mile too quickly.
“She did take good improvement from that run and it showed on Saturday.”
Contract Racing’s David & Jenny Moodie bred and race her in partnership with Nick & Gayle Psaltis. Her dam Princesa (Danehill) won two Listed sprints at Flemington and second-dam Kapchat (Centaine) won the 1994 Coolmore when it was known as the Winfield Classic.
“She will have about three weeks in the paddock before building towards the Coolmore,” Ryan continued. “It’s on her home track at Rosehill and I believe there’s a Group 1 win in her.”
The Moodies bred another winner on Saturday when Remagen Bridge defied running down in the Broncos Superstore Hcp (1200m) at Doomben. It was his second win for part-owner and trainer Stuart Kendrick since transferring to Queensland earlier this year.
Remagen Bridge (General Nediym) won the last of 6 races in Contract Racing’s colours at Moonee Valley last November. He changed hands for $48,000 the following month at Oaklands Junction.
