Champion Marscay mare Circles Of Gold had three of her sons sire winners on both sides of the Tasman on Thursday.

Gold Centre (Danehill) started the big day with By the Powers who stretched out for a convincing victory in the Mitavite Maiden (1400m) at Pukekura for trainer Mathew Eales.

Based at Newmarket Lodge in Palmerston North, Gold Centre was retired after just three starts in Victoria.  He was a debut winner at Warracknabeal in July 2005 defeating subsequent Magic Millions 3YO Trophy winner Tereschenko.

Haradasun mare Freckle Face was the next to salute in the Glebe Dental Group Maiden (1000m) at Hawkesbury.  Having her second start for trainer Anthony Cummings, she settled just off the speed and then sprinted home for a handy win.

Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus) was a G1 winner of the STC George Ryder Stakes and AJC Doncaster and also performed on the international stage when a G1 winner of the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.  He stands at Coolmore Stud.

Elvstroem brought up the third victory for Circles Of Gold when his filly Go Girlfriend claimed the Life Members Maiden Plate (1400m) at Penola.  She jumped well and took a gap at the top of the straight to win well.

Elvstroem (Danehill) was a G1 winner of the Victoria Derby and Caulfield Cup before travelling overseas to win the G1 Dubai Duty Free.  He is based at Blue Gum Farm.

Circles of Gold, now 22 years old, has been a truly amazing mare for connections.  She won the 2005 AJC Oaks and was second to Arctic Scent in the 2006 Caulfield Cup

She has a 3yo colt by Tale of the Cat named Duran and her latest foal is a 2yo filly by High Chaparral.  Besides her three sire sons, she has produced the stakes performers Hveger and Altius and is also the second-dam of four stakes performers.

Tony Vasil trained Elvstroem and Haradasun for owner-breeders Frank Tagg, Garry Moffitt and Frank Meduri.  “Circles Of Gold is the equivalent of New Zealand’s Eight Carat,” Vasil said.  “She just keeps throwing class horses.  Even those who haven’t had the racetrack success of Elvstroem and Haradasun have been beautiful types with talent.  She is all quality and she puts that into her progeny.”
