The 2010 Dubai racing carnival at the new Meydan racecourse is shaping up as one of the best on record.
Less than a month after it was revealed Darley would send nine of its Australian based gallopers to Dubai, it has been announced six of South America’s brightest stars have been purchased by undisclosed UAE owners.
Enak (Orpen) heads the imports from Argentina. He was a G1 winner of the 2yo Gran Premio Gran Criterium at San Isidro on May 23.
Gulf interests have also picked the eyes out of Argentina’s best 2yo fillies. They include Ishitaki (Interprete) who was a G1 winner of the Gran Premio Eliseo Ramirez at San Isidro in April and the Gran Premio Jorge De Atucha at Palermo in May. She won them by a combined total of 14 lengths.
Another Interprete filly named Peristaltica was also on the shopping list. She was a five-length winner of the Gran Premio Saturnino J. Unzue in March.
Interprete (Farnesio) is a multiple champion sire in Argentina. He stands at Haras El Paraiso and is best known as the damsire of Invasor.
Champion 2yo Arranca El Sol heads the Chilean imports. By the A.P. Indy stallion Dynamix, he was a G1 winner of the Clasico Tanteo de Potrillos in June for Stud Burlesco and trainer Juan Pablo Baeza. Coeur Loyal is a more than able back-up from Chile. He was a four length winner of a G3 in April.
From Uruguay, Storm Ultralight (Bernstein) should be prominent on Meydan’s main track. He set a new course record of 1.15s for 1300m on the dirt to win the Clasico Lavalleja by 12 lengths in April.
Darley’s Australia-based gallopers off to the Gulf are Sousa, Fravashi, Desuetude, Caymans, Aichi, Marching, El Cambio, Imvula and Time Thief.
