A More Than Ready filly sold for $600,000 at this week’s Ocala 2YO Sale in Florida.
Offered by Niall Brennan Stables, she caught the eye of agent Kerri Radcliffe during a 200m breeze in 10.00s prior to the auction. Her dam Music Score (Storm) is a half-sister to G1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Distant Music who stood at Yallambee Stud in Australia.
Radcliffe didn’t disclose who she was shopping for during Tuesday’s opening session but the filly will be trained in England by her husband Jeremy Noseda. “I love More Than Ready, he’s a great stallion,” Radcliffe said. “She’s a special filly coming from a great consignor.”
Noseda has already enjoyed success with More Than Ready filly Nemoralia. She cost $170,000 at the 2015 Ocala 2YO Sale and won the G3 City of York Stakes before crossing the Atlantic for Group 1 placings in the Frizette Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
Brennan had pin-hooked the filly for $200,000 at last year’s Keeneland September yearling sale.
“I’ve been lucky to have three Group winning fillies by More Than Ready,” he said while thanking the aforementioned husband-and-wife team. “She’s the best one I’ve ever had. I’m very confident of that.
“More Than Ready gets colts & fillies on turf & dirt. She’s got a lovely pedigree and it was a brilliant breeze. She’s a filly for the future and I think she will do it all.”
Radcliffe led buyers at the Ocala 2YO Sale with a $1.70 million bid for the Congrats filly out of Azalea Belle (Dixie Union). She had logged 9.80s for 200m which was co-fastest breeze before the topping the overall leader-board on Wednesday.
Australian agent Craig Rounsefell of Boomer Bloodstock (FBAA) was also active on Wednesday buying a More Than Ready – Bella Chianti filly for $280,000. Her dam is an unraced daughter of G2 Rampart Stakes winner Bella Chiarra (Phone Trick).
Rounsefell indicated the filly will be trained by Phil Damato at Santa Anita. She was another profitable pin-hook after making just $30,000 at the 2016 Keeneland September yearling sale.
More Than Ready topped the Fasig-Tipton Florida 2YO Sale on March 1 with a $1.10 million colt from multiple stakes winner Tensas Punch (War Front).
The Vinery champion was also represented by a seven-figure yearling colt at the Gold Coast Magic Millions in January. The brother to his G1 Golden Slipper winner Sebring was purchased by Gai Waterhouse for $1.30 million.
