Ridgeview Park has lost its second stallion in a month with the news Bianconi (USA) was put down on Friday.

The 21 year-old stallion had been diagnosed with spinal cord damage.  “He still gets winners every week and his legacy will live on for a long time,” Ridgeview Park owner Phil Sloane said.  “Our thanks to Mike and Sarah from Bendigo Equine Clinic for everything they did to save him.  RIP old fella.”

The Muskerry East stud farewelled its Redoute’s Choice stallion Dr Doute’s following a colic attack on New Year’s Day.

Bianconi (Danzig) was trained by Aidan O’Brien for Susan Magnier to win the G2 Diadem Stakes at Ascot.  He shuttled from Ashford Stud in Kentucky to Swettenham Stud from 2000 to 2005 before taking up permanent residence at Nagambie.

He transferred from Swettenham to Ridgeview Park in 2014.

Bianconi has sired over 560 individual winners at a 62% strike-rate and among the best of his 19 stakes winners has been Nicconi (G1 Lightning Stakes & G1 The Galaxy) who is off to a great start carrying on the sireline at Widden Stud.
