Stablemates please Rogersons

Star mares Soriano (NZ) and Polyantha (Aus) pleased trainers Graeme and Debbie Rogerson at the recent Paeroa trials.

Soriano (4m Savabeel – Call Me Lily by Just A Dancer) did everything asked of her to win untouched and Polyantha put in an eye-catching late burst behind the placegetters in her trial.

“Soriano will run in the Captain Cook Stakes at Trentham this weekend so she needed a nice hit-out which she got,” said Debbie Rogerson.  “She has been going really well in this campaign so it would be nice to think she could get into the finish although it’s looks a pretty good field.”

Soriano finished fourth in the G1 Spring Classic (2040m) at Hastings three starts back and has since recorded stakes placings at both Rotorua and Ellerslie.  Safely through this weekend’s event, she will head to the G1 Zabeel Classic at Ellerslie on Boxing Day.

Polyantha (5m Encosta De Lago – Ballycairn by Zabeel) was having her first serious gallop since suffering a bleeding attack at Ellerslie in April and delighted Rogerson with her run.  “We have taken her along quietly since she had her bleeding problem and so far she has done everything without a hitch,” she said.

“She will have another trial at Te Aroha in a fortnight and then we will look to kick her off sometime over the Christmas period.”

The Rogerson team also produced stylish juvenile trial winner Candid Man (Nadeem) in the fastest time for the day over 700 metres.
