Montjeu mare Strawberry Ripple topped the Magic Millions August Sale at the Gold Coast on Sunday when making $61,000 to the bid of Stanley River Thoroughbreds. Trade at the Sunday Sale reached $372,650 and the 73 lots sold averaged over $5,100. The clearance rate was 81%.
Strawberry Ripple is a Brisbane winning half sister to G2 winner Raspberry Ripple and was offered by Benwerrin Lodge (as agent). She is in foal to last season’s champion juvenile sire Stratum.
Over $120,000 was raised through the sale of stallion nominations at the Gold Coast sale ring on Sunday. All proceeds go to Jye Yeomans who was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year. Former Magic Millions groundsman Scott Yeomans and his wife Youlah have not been able to work due to the time required for Jye to be in Brisbane at the Childrens Hospital.
“We would like to sincerely thank all of the studs and breeders who donated the noms,” Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said. “Also thanks to the buyers of each nomination and everyone else who bid during the auction.”
