Star rewards Rosemount Stud

Rosemount Stud reports there’s been a marked improvement in the fertility of Group 1 winning sprinter Starspangledbanner.

From a select book of mares, 16 have already been confirmed in foal, 13 are waiting to be scanned, and 20 are still to be covered.

Starspangledbanner (Choisir) initially retired to Coolmore Stud in Ireland in 2011 following a career that including Group 1 victories in the Caulfield Guineas and Oakleigh Plate in Australia plus the Golden Jubilee Stakes and July Cup in England.

Following below-par fertility returns in Ireland and Australia in 2012, he returned to training but failed to win in 6 starts in Ireland, France, North America and Dubai.

Starspangledbanner was foaled and raised at Rosemount when it was part of the Makybe complex at Gnarwarre.  “Our vet has put so much time into this project,” Rosemont owner Anthony Mithen said.  “The mares have to be absolutely spot-on and ready to be served before ‘Star’ sees them.

“No matter what time day or night, when they’re ready to go, they go,” Mithen added.  “It’s been a massive effort by everyone here at Rosemont and it’s pleasing to see signs his fertility is improving.”
