Dances On Stars brought up the 20th stakes win this season by Arrowfield Stud sire Snitzel in the LR Gold Coast Prime Minister’s Cup (1300m) on Saturday.
Those 20 successes have been achieved by 13 horses headed by Group 1 winners Shamus Award and Snitzerland. Their distribution by state is: NSW (6), Western Australia (6), Victoria (5) and Queensland (3).
Dances On Stars (4g Snitzel – Starnet by Last Tycoon) won the LR Carrington Stakes on New Year’s Day and is the fourth of Snitzel’s stakes winners this season trained by Gerald Ryan following Snitzerland, Hot Snitzel and Time For War.
From Snitzel’s 2009 crop – just like Snitzerland and multiple Perth stakes winner Amorino (formerly trained by Ryan) – Dances On Stars was bred by the Hong Kong Breeders Club and sold for $95,000 at Karaka in 2011. Ryan’s stable clients Brian Mullins, Donna Keegan and Ann & Richard Glenister were looking for a Snitzel colt and decided to take 100% of Starnet’s son.
With season earnings of $8.79 million, Snitzel is headed only by his own champion sire Redoute’s Choice ($9.14 million) on the Australian General Sires’ list.
Snitzel will stand at Arrowfield for a fee of $71,500 (inc gst) in 2014.
