Talented sprinter Kikuno Storm has joined the roll-call of Statue Of Liberty stakes winners in the G3 Capella Stakes (1200m) at Nakayama.

Statue Of Liberty has now sired 18 black-type winners – he shuttled to Japan for four northern books until 2012 and since then has been based permanently at Eliza Park International.

Kikuno Storm (6h Statue Of Liberty – Psylla by Fabulous Dancer) flew home from the back of a capacity field to win the Capella Stakes by a neck on Sunday.  It improved his overall earnings to the equivalent of AUD 1.68 million.

The first of his 7 wins was in a 2YO Newcomer at Kyoto in July 2011.

His French-bred dam Psylla has also foaled winners by Brian’s Time, Meiner Love and Agnes Flight.  She was sent to Japan in 1998 after finishing third to Pas De Reponse (Danzig) in the LR Prix Imprudence (1400m) at Maisons-laffitte.  The winner was coming off a Group 1 victory in the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket.

Statue Of Liberty has promising two year-old Claro el Banco entered for the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions Classic (1100m) on Thursday.  The Victorian visitor won on debut at Ballarat last month and he is on trial for a $2 million pay-day at the Gold Coast on January 9.

Eliza Park International has catalogued a Statue Of Liberty – Wonderer (End Sweep) colt as Lot 728 for the Magic Millions yearling sale next month.  His dam was a Listed winner of the 2006 AJC Wenona Girl Stakes and her fourth winner lobbed last week when First Alliance was successful at the Mudgee Cup meeting.
