Vinery Stud made a perfect start to the Inglis Easter 2 Yearling Sale on Sunday when its Star Turn half-sister to Vanna Girl was knocked down to Phillip Stokes for $100,000.

She was the first of three six-figure lots for Vinery when live selling returned to Riverside Stables following the COVID-19 lockdown.

“We are thrilled to have purchased the filly,” Stokes said.  Her value had continued to increase during the Brisbane winter carnival as Vanna Girl (Husson) completed a hat-trick at stakes level culminating in The Roses Gr.2 at Eagle Farm last month.

Stokes has been successful with Vinery-sired winners Aquagirl (Headwater) and All Too Huiying (All Too Hard) in Melbourne this year and he also purchased the younger brother to Vinery-sired Group 3 winner Life On The Wire (Pluck) at the Scone Yearling Sale on Sunday.

Vinery was third on the Easter 2 leader-board with turnover of $635,000 and second at the Scone Sale with turnover of $236,000.

Inglis has catalogued 385 lots for the Australian Weanling Sale this Wednesday and Thursday (July 8 & 9) at Riverside.  Vinery has entered colts by Headwater (2), Star Turn and Testa Rossa plus a filly by Press Statement.
