Stower guides Gossip at Scone

Talented jockey Brooke Stower recovered from a fall in the previous race to win on Hollywood Gossip at Scone on Friday.

Stower guided Hollywood Gossip an all-the-way victory in the Emirates Park Hcp (1300m) for trainer Gary Portelli and a syndicate that includes her WA-based breeder Jan Williamson.  “She’s a tough filly and well done to the connections who managed to back her at $29,” Portelli noted.  “I just could not understand the price!”

Hollywood Gossip (3f I’m All The Talk – Californium by Geiger Counter) had won a Nowra nursery in June and was ready to fire second-up at White Park.  A well-named thoroughbred given the pedigree, she was a $75,000 graduate of the 2020 Perth Magic Millions.

Portelli trained her sire I’m All The Talk (Stratum) to a Group 3 victory in the 2013 Skyline Stakes and has targeted his yearlings in the Swan Valley.  His I’m All The Talk winners are headed by Walkin’Talkin’ while She Can Talk has been nommed to break through at Newcastle next Saturday.

I’m All The Talk stands at Darling View Thoroughbreds and besides Portelli’s stablemates, his other interstate winners include All Banter (SW at Caulfield) and Garrire (Morphettville).

Californium is a half-sister to Dueton (LR Scenic Blast Stakes) and was sold to Jessica Carbery for $3,500 at the Mungrup Stud Dispersal in August 2020.  She has a 2yo named California Rising (Playing God) with Neville Parnham and a yearling colt by A Lot (USA).

I’m All The Talk was Champion WA 2YO Sire & First-season Sire in 2019-20 and Champion WA Second-season Sire in 2020-21.  He stands at Darling View Thoroughbreds for a $6,600 (inc GST) service fee.
