French stakes winner Missvinski attracted a bid of US$400,000 to top Day 4 of the Keeneland January on Thursday.  The six-year-old Stravinsky mare was bought by Aisling Duignan as agent.

Missvinski was successful in the 2006 Prix Zeddaan as a juvenile and returned to capture the Prix Ronde de Nuit t three.  She was also a close second to champion Darjina in both the Prix d’Astarte (G1) and Prix de la Grotte (G3).  Missvinski failed to reproduce that form after coming to the United States and was most recently unplaced in a claimer at Churchill Downs in November.

Missvinski is out of the Brocco mare Miss U Fran.  Her second dam is a sister to G1 winner Cacoethes.  It’s the family of Champion turf mare Fiji (Rainbow Quest) as well as recent Alabama Stakes (G1) winner Careless Jewel (Tapit) and Debutante Stakes (G3) winner Decelerator (Dehere).

Her $400,000 price-tag put a gap in the leader board.  Next best was Gone West colt Close Alliance who fetched $55,000.  The Juddmonte Farms-bred 4yo won first time out at Great Leighs in England and was an allowance placegetter at Saratoga last time out in September.

Close Alliance is from A.P. Indy mare Shoogle and is closely related to G1 winners Aptitude, Slew o’ Gold and Coastal.

Thursday’s top yearling was a $50,000 colt from the first crop of G2 winner Master Command (A.P. Indy).  The chestnut is the first foal from the winning Wavering Wind (Wavering Monarch) who comes from the family of the stakes-winner Jazzing Around (Stop the Music).

On Thursday, 199 horses were sold for a total of $2.24 million.  The average dipped 21% to $11,283.
